There are very good reasons for having Tenant Insurance.

First, as a tenant you are responsible yes, legally responsible, for any damage that you cause to some your rented property and other people who live there or visit there.

You could be liable if, for example, someone enters your home, stumbles on your cat and breaks an arm!!! If your toaster causes fire damage to not only your apartment, but all of the rented building, you may face a big bill.

You might even have trouble if your guests get out of hand and cause damage.

And remember your personal property.

You might think they are not really much value.

However, would you be able replace them all at once if they were damaged by fire, water or stolen.

For example to replace just your clothes could cost thousands.

The amount of your insurance should be high enough to cover the cost of replacing all your belongings and the cost of cleaning and repair in case of damage water or damage by fire.

Even if you didn't buy your sofa and your bed, replacing them could leave a hole in your budget.
